"As president of the Melbourne Blues Appreciation
Society, I see quite a number of bands and acts who
perform for us, some of these bands are quite new
to the blues scene as is “Synergy Blue”
Comprising of 4 members, this band although new to
our scene, is not new to the blues, all of the members
are seasoned blues players who have come together
for the purpose of bringing their knowledge and the
blues to the public, and we are very pleased they
did. Playing a gig for the MBAS these four accomplished
band members have proved to us that they are more
than ready to take it to the masses. Thoroughly enjoyable
with a great blues feel, they will go far!"

SYNERGY BLUE “ROCKS” Maldon
It was with great pleasure that the Maldon Blues Club
hosted Synergy Blue for the second time this year.
Sam Salzone (Vocal and Blues Harp) is a singer and
musician who fronts the band and is an artist with
great style and feeling for the Blues. Chris Magira
plays electrifying guitar that puts injects great
energy into the group, along with the steady and driving
beat of the drummer Grant Collie and the great backing
of Delta Chris on bass.
They all add up to a very powerful Blues band that
had the capacity crowd on their feet and shouting
for more.
Synergy Blue is a new and powerful force in the Victorian
Blues Scene and thanks again to Sam and the boys for
such a great Sunday afternoon.
Ken White, Convener, Maldon

Well done Sam.
I enjoy those impromptu jam gigs.
You play with great passion man. All the best with
your music.

2006

“Sam Salzone, ’Mr. Blues Passion’
himself recently wowed the crowd at Manchester Lane
as a guest of the Host Band Phoenix. A combination
of a solid vocal performance accompanied by his trade
mark blistering yet soulful harp renditions of blues
classics left the crowd applauding for more. Sam is
truly on the scene!”

A Taste of Synergy - 2007
Synergy Blue is a Melbourne based blues band, featuring Sam Salzone on voice and harmonica. Salzone has been up to Maldon a couple of times, and as far as I'm concerned he can play here every week - I'll be there to see him!
I just love the way this cd heads off -the big Hammond playing too short few bars of Green Onions. When I first listened to the cd, I was disappointed, thinking it only went down hill after that, but on repeated listens, I have come to appreciate the album.
Man of Distinction, is a slow smouldering number with the organ swelling in the background, Sam's distinct voice up front, and his harmonica taking leave at the end. In contrast, Killing Floor is upbeat and features a wailing harmonica solo preceding an organ solo over a familiar bass riff.
Bow Wind features another Hammond organ solo, played by Gary Jones. Blues with a Feeling is a slow number that has a guitar solo courtesy of Alby Sutherland and plenty of organ as well.
Get Out of my Life Woman continues the same vein, while Crosscut Saw has a meatier riff. The excitement continues with Cross Roads, while I Ain't Superstitious is bit more laidback, and the album finishes with a second version of Man of Distinction - only this one is 6 minutes 60 seconds long according to the slick, which when I went to school, a full 7 minutes of great blues.
Make sure you catch Smokin' Sam when he plays at Maldon again!

Neil is another good mate of ours who is also an extremely competent bass player, currently working with Synergy Blue, and it was a delight to catch up with him last night and have him perform for us on a few sets. He also fronted the microphone for a number on main vocals and again displayed an ability to hit the high notes that would be the envy of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, herself, something he attributes to giving up the cancer sticks a couple of years ago, which is just another one of his many enviable abilities.
Last, but by no means least, we had the pleasure of seeing our good mate, Smokin' Sam, there last night and having him up for a set or two. This guy is an acknowledged master of the harp and it's always an absolute treat to hear him play one. If you ever get the chance to see him perform with his band, Synergy Blue, take it because you'll be in for a top night of entertainment, that's for sure!
